Brief History of Botany Department:
Botany as a subsidiary subject was started in the year 1983. Since its establishment, Mr. M.B Kazi had worked as Head of the Department. After his retirement in the year 2003, Mr. P.V.Gaikwad took charge of department and he is working till date as a Head. Department has successfully completed COSIP (College Science Improvement Programme), COC in Biotechnology. Presently department is running COC in identification and cultivation of medicinal plants since academic year 2012-13 which was initially funded by UGC. In the academic year 2017-18 department had organized National Conference on Recent trends in Physics and Natural Sciences with Department of Physics in collaboration with Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT). Currently department is engaged in research.

• To apply conventional and non-conventional tools to understand plant process, development of human resource with hands on experience in the frontier areas of plant sciences.
Objectives
• To impart quality education in the field of botany to make the students acquire an in-depth knowledge relevant to local regional and national needs.
• To produce well trained careers and inculcate the concept of conservation of biodiversity.
• To enable the students to study the subject outside the classroom environment.
