BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The department of Geography was established in 1971 for the third year students. As this is one of the oldest colleges of this period there was not a single geography department in the taluka as well as the adjacent talukas. As per the need and demand of the student college started subject geography at the degree level. Department has maintained its academic standard since from the beginning. From academic year 2022-23 department starts postgraduate degree programme M.A./M.Sc. Geography. The strength of the students for degree level is affected due to emergence of the other colleges and departments. In the academic year 2023-24 there are 22 students in B. A. III and 20 students at M.A./M.Sc.II. Many students of our department are working in different fields of society foe ex. Education, civil services, revenue department, defense, politics etc. Devoted faculties Mr. D.G. Gaikwad, Mr. S. S. Shrikhande, Mr. K. S. Kushire, Mr. J. D. Mulik, Major P. A. Shitole, Dr. Arun Patil, Mr .S. T. Patil,  R. M. Kamble, Shri D. B. Patil, were used their potential to strengthen department. Capt. S. K. Mane is working as Head of the department. 
The Department of Geography, Karmvver Bhaurao Patil Collahe Urun-Islampur, was established in 1961. The department has sufficient infrastructure and laboratories with Wi-Fi connectivity and departmental Library. The Geography Department is equipped with around 1 lab with GIS & GPS software with Internet connection. Currently Three full time and three part time (CHB) faculty members are actively engaged in the teaching and extension activities in the department. Teachers are constantly devising interesting methods such as expert lectures, seminars, workshops, value added, and Add On and certificate courses. All faculty members are qualified NET and SET and four faculty members is awarded Ph.D. degree from Shivaji University, Kolhapur and Dr. B. A. M. University Chhatrpati Sambhaji Nagar. By keeping the students at the center, the department conducts various activities like village survey, Excursion-cum-study-tour, Industrial Visits, Guest Lecture, Geo-Fest, Class wise Karmvver Bhaurao Patil Jayanti celebration, Wallpaper/Poster Presentation, and Geography day, Population day, Tourism day, Nature Conservation day, Group Discussion, Seminar, Project, Debate etc. The Department of Geography has been done memorandum of Department of Geography, Miraj Mahavidyalaya, Miraj. Dist- Sangli, IIRS Deharadun, Y. C. College, Urun- Islampur and Purna Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Urun-Islampur. Dist- SANGLI. (MH)

To create environmental awareness and research temper regarding local as well global geographical issues among the students.
    MISSION
To provide quality higher education in physical as well as human geography and thereby to train the students to grab career opportunities in different geographical fields such as GIS, GPS, Surveying, Tourism, Rural/Urban Planning and Development etc. 
    GOALS
    To create awareness among students about local geographical issues
    To develop the culture of water conservation as there is scarcity of water.
    To development the cartographic technique, map reading and surveying skills among the students.
    To organize skill based courses for the students and thereby create career opportunities.
