About Department:
               Established in 1987, the Department of Mathematics at K. B. P. College, Urun- Islampur, has been a hub of academic excellence and innovation in mathematical sciences. It began its journey with the B.Sc. Mathematics programme under the leadership of Mr. A. A. Basade, supported by passionate faculty members like Mr. S. P. Pokharnikar, Dr. H. T. Dinde, and Smt. M. V. Gaikwad, who played a pivotal role in shaping the department’s early growth. Over the years, the department has expanded its academic offerings and vision. The introduction of the M.Sc. in Mathematics course in 2013 marked a significant milestone in its journey. Led by visionary heads — Mr. A. A. Basade (1987–2004), Dr. H. T. Dinde (2004–2021), and Smt. M. V. Gaikwad (2021–2023) — the department has always focused on a progressive and student-centered approach to learning.
             The department features a modern and student-friendly infrastructure. It includes a well-equipped Computer Lab with mathematical software and internet access, an Interactive Panel that enhances classroom engagement, and a Wi-Fi-enabled environment for seamless digital learning. A dedicated Departmental Library offers a rich collection of reference books, research journals, and study materials. The classrooms are designed to foster active participation, discussions, and collaborative learning, providing students with a vibrant academic atmosphere. Additionally, the department conducts value-added courses and guest lecture series for UG and PG students, enabling them to go beyond the syllabus and explore real-world applications of mathematics. A key highlight is the annual celebration of National Mathematics Day on 22nd December, honoring the legendary Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. On this day, the department organizes various competitions, exhibitions, and activities to inspire creativity and mathematical curiosity among UG and PG students.
